How to Measure Your Treadmill Running Belt
There are a number of ways a treadmill belt can be measured. Some methods tend to give inaccurate measurements and as a result end up in the wrong size belt being made to fit the machine, and once it's made there's no going back. Below we have provided the most accurate means of measuring your treadmills running belt.
Here we show you the most accurate method of measuring your treadmills running belt.
Step 1
Measuring the Width
To measure the width of your treadmills running belt simply put the tape measure right on one end of the belt and measure the entire width of the belt. Double check your measurement and record it in millimetres. By recording your belt in millimetres it allows us to determine if the measurement is accurate or not and allows us to account for any half measurements of 1cm units.
*Please refer to the diagram below marked in red for measuring the width of your treadmill belt.
Step 2
Measuring the Length
To accurately measure the width we recommend the following process:
. Loosen belt completely
. Roll the belt until you can see the seam.
- When you can see the seam of the belt at the front of the treadmill near the motor cowling, place a mark on it to use as the starting point for your next measurement.
- Measure towards the back of the treadmill along the length of the belt and place a mark on the belt at 1 metre.
- Roll the belt until the last mark you made is closer to the front of the treadmill near the motor cowling - similar to where you positioned your first mark near the seam.
- Then measure along the length of the treadmill belt another metre and place a mark.
- Repeat this process until you find your way back to the seam where your first mark is.
- Record the measurement of the length of the treadmill belt in millimetres.
- Or cut it off , lay flat and measure
